Ok,
So I do most of my tracking on a loft on the second floor. Behind me is a lot of space and below is a foyer. Originally, I wanted to utilize this open space as a great reverb chamber for drum recording. So simply just record the drums in the foyer. Problem is, reaching that distance poses as very difficult consider I'm already running a snake to the tracking room at 100ft. I would then have to add on another 100ft so I can get the initial inputs down stairs which I'm sort of trying to avoid.
Then I thought, what if I recorded the drums up stairs and then placed the room mics down stairs? Though the entire drum set would be closer to the ceiling, but wouldn't I get almost the same reverb response or similar from that perspective?
