I have a Dimarzio Humbucker and underneath on the bottom it says Steve Morse, anybody ever use one of these. I was thinking of swapping out my Jacksons EMG.
Can any humbucker be coil tapped or do they have to be special designed for that?

I have a couple of Dimarzio "Tone Zones" which I think Joe Satriani uses, very smooth sounding for single note playing and tight and punchy for riffing.

However the Dimarzio humbucker "Steve Morse" models are the highest output humbuckers that Dimarzio make.
The DP 200 is designed as a bridge pickup with upper mid-range peak with a clean bass response.
The DP 205 is designed as a neck pickup with a dark smooth tone and clean low end.

You can tap any Humbucker but it's better if they already have a 4 wire harness coming out of pickup. If it does not, depending on the pickup, you may have to cut the actual coil wire, very tiny, and solder your own wires to build a harness. I've done this but ruined a few pickups before I got it right. Not reccomended. Some older pickups ran the coil wire directly from coil one to coil two which requires a little surgery to build your tap wires.

Newer pickups may have a solder point to tap into which makes life a little easier.
