Decca guitar

Okay, a bit of a long story, but it all leads up to me striking up a conversation with an aging keyboardist and buying an electric guitar from him for 5 bucks. I wanna know a thing or two about this. It's definitely a vintage guitar, judging by the machineheads (They're yellowing, and all attached to a single strip of metal). The guitar itself is a beautiful sunburst yellow color, with the neck and headstock finished the same way, with a black plastic (I'll assume) pickplate with one single-coil pickup , with a volume and tone knob. Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Only that Decca Records imported them from Japan in the 60's and branded them under their name. They were entry level instruments.

I had a Decca guitar once, I think it was about 1970. The one I had was sort of like a strat body style with two pickups. I think they were made in the same factory in Japan as were Electra guitars, Matsakura maybe, and definately not sure about the spelling. They weren't high end guitars so one that is still in playable condition is pretty rare today. They were one of many mass produced "affordable" guitars from the 60s and early 70s. Check the pickup, it may be a Teisco ( it's a plus if it is, they were really hot and still kick for slide.) You might do a Google search under Electra Guitars (I think they had the import licence) where you will find Decca, Teisco/Teisco Del Ray, Trutone, Checkmate and a number of other similar guitars from the same era. That's about all I can tell you without seeing it.
