Dead channel

I have a Yamaha MD8. I am experiencing a dead channel. I cannot record through chanel 2. I have performed the same tests on the other channels with positive results, but, cannot seem to get this channel working. It has one of two of the xlr inputs(yes, I have tried both xlr and 1/4 inch inputs)

I'm bummed. Any suggestions??

Get 20 or so of your friends together and have a Dead Channel funeral. Charge a cover charge at the door so you can purchase a gravestone that says "Here lies channel 2, Dead as Usual"

C'mon. it was a funny answer.

the sad truth is pres fail. Especially on older units. You can pay to get it serviced. You can troubleshoot the unit by cracking it open and cleaning it up (although you might break more than you fix).

what do want to be told?

Do you want to know how to troubleshoot it from the inside?

Do you want contact info for good servicepeople?

Do you want to know what you should buy instead?

Yeah, Sorry for being short. I just woke up and was hoping for a little more, maybe.

I basically was trying to get any sort of answer that would help me fix the problem. Maybe somebody might have experienced similar problems and had a fairly easy solution. that's all.
