I bought a mixer, and have a shitty mic running to it, and the recording levels are right, but when listening to the recordings theres a crackling... its not in the background, only when sound is present

Thats a very general question. Crackling can come from all kinds of things. but for now I would say start by buying better equipment. If you start from shit you'll end up with shit. If not that you have to figure out at least where its not coming from. try the mic on someone else system if it doesnt crack then you know its not the mic do that with all the connections ie wires and what ever your using to make the music. as for the mixer I would suggest you get with someone who is familar with what you have, like tech support for that product and run through your recording methods with them. Levels are important but there are a number of things you could be doing wrong. All in all I would say the cracks are comming from a piece of equipment or cord you got pluged into the mixer find out which one then go from there.
