connect soundcraft M12 and focusrite trakmaster

I recently purchased a soundcraft M12. I already owned a focusrite trakmaster.
I am wondering if it is still usefull to plug my mic into the preamp and then pass it to the mixer? or is this just an obsolete step?

those spirit m12 EQs are excellent. go from the out to one of the line ins of the m12 to eq and monitor.

What are you trying to use the mixer for? Monitoring? Or for the EQ?
