combos facing almost upwards

question for the guitarists. Why are small combo's many times places in an angle in the studio or on stage. They seem like they're falling over almost but there's a special rack that holds m in place. I hope you know what i mean, it's mostly fender amps I see with this technique...

It definitely changes the sound a bit. Tilting an amp back or getting it off the floor reduces the low-end a bit, and can help clean up a muddy guitar sound.
I should have mentioned that, I suppose.

But it was meant to do what I said before. In a club, it also helps keep people sitting close from being stabbed in the ears.

A lot of note definition is lost (to your own ears) when it isn't pointing at you. This causes a lot of people try to make their amps brighter which in turn cuases of lot of people in the audience to say, "omfg that is harsh sounding! Lets leave."

As said above..also on the Fenders they also have tilt-back legs to keep you from having to carry a separate stand. The legs are available as an after market item to use with other amps. They come in two lengths, a shorter set for the smaller combos like a Deluxe Reverb, and a taller set for bigger amps or cabs.
