Oh at last the parts are assembled and the mixing has begun...
First thing...thank you very much Mike and Steve for these terrific additions!
Cast of Characters:
Guernica: Bass
Lt. Bob: Horn
Sluice: The other stuff
Methods for collaboration: I recorded basic demo tracks and linked Guernica and Lt. Bob to the MP3. They loaded it into their systems, over-dubbed their parts, during which time I re-recorded my final tracks on my end. Then they sent me a CD. The CD tracks were stereo splits: Original track panned to the left, their additions to the right. I loaded them into Wavelab and removed the original (left) track. Then I saved the right side (bass or sax) as a mono track to be loaded and mixed in Sonar. Pretty neat.
Now, Lt. Bob gave me 13 tracks to choose from! And they were all excellent candidates. I picked them apart for about 2 hours last night, made a decision, slept, went to work, came home, changed my mind. Very good candidates. So what I did was use one track that I liked the most as the main ride. Then I found a spot where I thought another track or two might blend in well. So there's a moment where during the ride, out from the side a couple pieces from the other rides chime in. Hopefully Steve isn't aggravated with my experimentation.
Guernica, listen to how I handled the beginning and tell me what you think.
Pull no punches please...
Thanks a lot
