My old Fender transistor combo finally died thi sweek. It was getting pretty emberassing anyway that I kept playing on it.

so it's time to invest in a new one, but I have no fucking idea where to start!
First of all, I don't want to send too much money. About €800/1000 is an absolut maximum, and I hope to stay below it. I also want to have a combo: I have no intention of dragging those bloody cabinets in and out my car for a rehearsel:).

I don't play in a band now, but I have plans to start a stonerrock band. I do want to have options for other kinds of music. I like several Marshall drive channels, but I dislike the Marshalls clean, I adore the Fenders hotrod clean (which is pretty much in my price range) but then again I'm afraid the drive won't do it for me when I want play some heavy rock. I have no experience with other brands.

Let's all brainstorm: any alternatives?

Considering your location, have you tried a Koch Twintone? Very nice 1x12 tube combo, with a nice clean and a killer lead channel. Not sure what the price would be in Euro's though...Dolf's factory is in the Netherlands. Here's a link:

Never heared of that. I'll check it out though, thanks!

Any other tips?

Hughes & Kettner might blend those two worlds (clean and distortion) for you, give them a try!
If,after all,you cannot decide, simply choose an amp with a clean sound that fits your taste and try obtaining the desired distorted sound via stompbox or processor. There are tons of these out there, for every taste and pocket!
Good luck,
