I buy gear from musicians friend every once in a while...mic cords, effect pedals, and things like that. I have never and will never buy a guitar from mail order, there is too much inconsistancy from guitar to guitar. Its worth the extra money I have to pay to be able to play several and pick the one I like best (without having to ship guitar back and forth to a mail order company).....plus I don't buy new guitars....the best deals on guitars are name brand guitars (Fender, Gibson..ect..) that have been used. Why pay over $400 for a brand new mexican strat that will need a pickup upgrade, when you can buy a used mexican strat wioth upgraded pickups for $200?

Why pay over $2000 for a brand new les paul, when you can buy a used one for $1000?
If you buy the brand new les paul for $2000, its only worth $1000 when you take it home anyway...becasue its now a "used" les paul. Buy used and shop, you should be able to get a guitar for a good enough price that allows you to play it a couple of years and sell it for what you have in it.(if you wanted a change in guitars)

my 2 cents
