recording into my laptop from the Presonus Firebox ( http://www.presonus.com/products/Detail.aspx?ProductId=4 ). is there any way to record going in with some kind of compressor so i'm recording with some light compression?

Wouldn't that need to be compressed before going into the Presonus?

if anyone knows how this would work, please hit me up. i'm cool picking up a little compressor or whatever i should be using.

Just responded to your other thread lol, you should be able to do line outs into compressor and then back into the line ins.

If you need to track through a compressor while recording then your levels are probably too hot. Record dry, then compress later.

You can always run the signal back through a hardware compressor if you really feel the need to, but the average software compressor will probably be better than a cheap hardware compressor anyway.

You should be able to do this with the Firebox if you want to - run the signal to an output, into the compressor and record the output of the compressor run back into the input. Some DAWs such as Sonar allow you to do this in realtime as a sort of 'insert' plugin.
