wasn't completely happy with the pod xt direct (because of the mic and speaker models, not the amp models).....
and couldn't crank my amp like i used to...

the idea is, to take my pod xt, use the amp models only, put that into my mesa head, as a power amp, and then through the iso cabinet and mic setup....

the iso cab allows me to crank, without getting evicted.

this particular song, uses Acid drums and bass guitar....
it's just a template for some ideas...

here's the link to the mp3.....

i like the tones!!!

but youre a better guitar player than me, so i dont like you :D joking

no, i like this. is it gonna stay as an instrumental track or you gonna put a song around it?

to be honest, ive left my trusty marshall collecting dust after discovering amplitube and suchlike, but ive decided to go back to using the amp and mic-ing it up as youre 100% right, you just cant crank amplitube/pod/etc/etc up to get that bite.

good work mate

thanks for listening!
this, really, is just a "for fun" piece, i haven't really thought about taking it any further than an instrumental track...

mostly, it's just to hear what the iso cab is doing in a familiar setting...
i have another version of the same song on my artist page, that was all POD- then i a/b'd then against each other...

i would probably use amplitube myself, if i was into pc recording....
it makes sense if you're building songs from scratch in the pc....

is anybody else here using an isolation cabinet for gtrs?

if so, what are you using, and how successful are you with it?

any tips on eq or mic techniques inside the cab?

my own 'technical advice' for mic'ing a guitar....plug in your guitar to your amp. get the sound you want coming from the cab. wander round the cab to where you really like the sound without it sounding too harsh. move closer, move further away til youre happy. plonk a mic there where youre standing, aiming at the amp (condenser for me but im an amateur) and record it. dunno why, but i just like recording from where i like the sound standing, just as long as it aint too far away...

Well, Actually......

i'm asking about isolation cabinets specifically.

i'm looking for eq curves to accomodate closed space recording....
and techniques.

a plain ole cab, in a room, i got that down.

the iso cab, is a new toy.... no experience with that......
