BFD...better way to export

So I’m hoping we can avoid having to buy more expensive software…
We bought BFD a few months ago and loooove it. But we use cubase SE and it turns out that verision it is not compatable with BFD. We would have to upgrade cubase if we wanted it to work...so sad. So we had been exporting our drum tracks with garage band, but have noticed they just end up sounding dull. I guess the conversion sucks, so are there any other solutions that would be cheaper than upgrading cubase? Doesn’t audacity support VSTs? But I would assume the conversion wouldn’t be any better than garage band…if not worse.
Any suggestions?

So...you're saying it sounds different AFTER you export it? Can you describe the process that you're using in Garage Band?

Ok step by step this is what we do

-In garage band we go into track info (the "i" with the circle around it)
-and under generator, select "BFD stereo".
-and then from the there load the BFD presets
-then draw the midi notes in garage band and it plays them through BFD.
-then we export them into i-tunes....AIFF, 16-bit, 44.1 kHz (....which is the same as all our other tracks in Cubase)
-pull them out of i-tunes as AIFF files and load them into Cubase SE

The thing is that the drums just dont sound as punchy and rich as everything else we are recording....and if anything, we assumed the opposite since BFDs drum samples are going to be recording in a pro-studio, with awesome drums and super over priced mics that we cant afford...
