BEYER M500,M201 and OKTAVA MC012 -----help

Hi..........I'm converting my home setup to a commercial one.
I'm adding variety of mics.
I've been given great suggestions by fellow Home Recording.com users. I was suggested to go for different Mic types-------I've just come across BEYER M500 RIBBON, M201 DYNAMIC and OKTAVA MC012 on an auction-----I've never used them before.
Should I go ahead?????

Yes. . .all three are very useful mics and the Beyer mics are pretty standard at most studios.

Be aware that unless you buy from a place like www.oktava.com the quality varies wildly. On the Beyer ribbons, like the M500,
a seller may not even be aware that the ribbon isn't performing up to spec's (usual sympton-loss of high end).

What are you planning to use them on?

M500 for Vocal,Acoustic Guitar,Flute,Banjo,Harmonicas,SITAR(Indian Instrument) and TABLA(Indian Rythm).........M201 and MC012 for various instruments.
These seem to be in good condition(all of 'em) ........still I could check it with the seller..........thanks for the advice CHESSPAROV.

Russian only in spirit when it comes to playing chess.

If that's a "good" Oktava, there's a special add-on microphone capsule
called a "Lomo" to make it a large diaphram condenser.
You can check www.oktava.com and they have more info on it.
Its sound is said to be similar to the older Neumann's on vocals.

The Beyer M500 was designed primarily for live vocals and it has a
presence peak that resembles a Shure SM57.
Frank Sinatra used it as his stage mike.
