Hi Everyone. This forum is great.. I've been trolling it for weeks. I've had almost all of my questions asked by just searching.

I have a quick one: what's the best ProTools book out there?

I bought an Digi002 this winter, and have the basics down, but I'm totally new to digital. I'm experienced in Analog and ADAT, but basically taught myself ProTools (the really easy basics are pretty simple).

I'd like to know some of the more than basics about the program (haven't figured out AUX sends yet... truly pathetic.. a little bit of knowledge about plug-ins and memory would help, as well)

Specifically, I'm looking at:

Producing in the Home Studio with Pro Tools by David Franz

The Musician's Guide to Pro Tools by John Keane

Any opinions on either book or on another book?

My main concern with the David Franz is that it sounds like, from the Amazon reviews, that it might be too heavy in the basics of recording (mic placement, etc) and not enough in-depth about ProTools.

Thanks for any help!

I've read the producing book. Good stuff. I like that it goes through the process AND gives you plenty of how-to stuff for Pro Tools. I already knew the PT stuff, though and primarily read it for production tips to feed my students.

Take care,
chris
