best headphones for the cash?

I'm having a problem finding headphones that will not blow out after a few hours of use. I need to use 4 or 5 sets at the same time, so I can't afford to spend $100 a piece on them. Also, they need to be loud enough that they overpower the noise in the room, especially the pair in the drum room. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks

For tracking I have a bunch of AKG K-44's.
A LOT better than the Nady QH-560's they replaced.
The AKG phones are way more comfortable, and are a closed back design.
I hear the new Sennheiser closed backs are quite nice for the price too.

the akg k-44's have a nice price ($20 on ebay), but are you able to crank them at high volumes (like the volume required to hear over a rock drum set) for extended periods of time without blowing the speakers in them? thanks a lot!

I've had mine for about a year and recorded probably 10 bands with them. All using acoustic kits. hard rock stuff.
I use them with a Behringer headphone amp and I don't have any problems with them.
The fact they are closed back helps isolate them so they don't need to be blairingly loud.

I use MoreMe's. Stereo/mono switch right on them which comes in handy. They're comfortable once you adjust them right.

AKG K44's are the cheapest at $19 each but still work great.

Nice long cord and comes with 1/8" and 1/4" converter.

I bought 4 AKG K55's about 5 years ago and they still work great.

They are $29 a piece but right now there is a sale on K66's 2 for $59.

Anyone here use either the Grado SR60 or SR80? I've read good things about them. Both are under $100.

The Grados are open back; not very good for tracking, and they blow up easily. But they're wonderful sounding headphones for pure listening enjoyment.

I use a set of AKG K240's. I know their definitly at the $100 end , but these things will take all kinds of abuse. My dad has used them at his live sound gig for probably 10 years and they are still in practically mint condition. I trip on the chord, giving the connector a nice jolt, probably once a week, but they don't care
