Is this mixer good? Does anyone here have experiance with this mixer...because i saw one at my guitar center for about 500 bucks, and well for its size and amount of inputs i thought it would be a good deal. Any feedback about this board would be much appreciated.

Do a search around here - it depends on the situation, but I think for that price its a pretty good deal. If its for live use, I'd question its value even at that cost, as those Behringer boards have (at least from what I've read), been known to have less than top-quality construction.

But, if you're looking for an analog mixing or monitoring desk for something like, say, the Alesis HD24, then it would probably be a pretty good deal... they go for what, 1100 new?

How do you plan to use it?

If you don't need acres of channels, spend the $500 on something else - like a small Soundcraft.

If you do need acres of channels, rethink your configuration. It may not be worth the $500, simply because regardless of it's great connectivity (and that is pretty fine) you'll hit its limit on sound quality pretty quickly and will be looking for something else.

If it's new for $500, it's a good deal. The lowest price I've seen for a new one was $750. I wouldn't use it for "touring" or other rough handling jobs, but for mixing down 24 channels from three ADATs or an HD24 (as an example) it's very serviceable IMO.

I used the older version (MX8000) for eight years. Granted the build quality isn't going to compare with something costing a lot more, and mine did have a channel go out (after 7 years...and it was a bitch to fix) but honestly, for $500, I'd jump on that deal. I personally have no qualms buying Behringer gear (There, I said it) and I've owned a lot of it...still do. The routing options alone are worthwhile. Like others said though, leave it in a stable environment. If you're looking for a board to use for PA...don't use this one. If it's for recording, go for it. Screw the naysayers. But then again, this is IMHO.

I agree.

Yep. There - I said it too. Fire up the flamethrowers if you must, but I personally think that most Behringer slammers are either :

a) Newbies that have never used audio gear before and haven't got the slightest idea what they're doing.

b) Insecure home studio types that have to justify the money they spent on their expensive ________ (fill in the brand name) gear. The audio equivalent of "mine's bigger than yours".

c) Commercial studios that need the big buck name brands to attract clients.

But hey - that's just MHO... ;)

I agree with all the points above...i would only use it for studio gear(i want bigger stuff, so i can get more bands...i have been doing a lot more of just my band recording)...but i need a better interface first, ive realized...if the deal is still available, i will go for it at a later time. I like behringer gear though, and ive heard better vocal tracks recorded with my behringer mixer than some others with bigger and "better" boards.

I have an old MX8000 original german made console from 1997-8 and it is a great mixer. I have no idea if the MX9000 is the same console. The made in China ones seem to have serious quality problems, but the old MX8000s were really reliable (mine is still in mint shape and was used everyday and all day on weekends for 5 years).

If it works, it is worth $500.
