I am going to an outdoor concert coming up pretty soon (the IT festival) and was wondering if there would be a better battery powered mic than my NT3 to use for simple lo-fi recording.

I just have a Marantz 201 cassette deck and just want to catch a few tunes and maybe some conversations and whatever.

Ive used the NT3 indoors at shows and stuff and its ok but is there another battery powered condenser that might be a little better choice.......like maybe a BG4.1 or PG81??????

thanks

Well, the AKG C1000S is a battery powered condenser also... but, I prefer the Rode NT3.... however, if your trying to lose some bottom-end, give the AKG C1000S at shot... they roll-off at about 40kHz.

(and yes cominginsecond I own both mic's. lol)

Thanks DJL....

....my deck has a roll off....though I'm not sure where it starts but it does a decent job.....I'll keep the AKG in mind though.
I hear from some that they really like it on guitar amps.

Anyone else with any thoughts?

Maybe Cad?

I have no experience with them but the CAD E100 and E200 look interesting and can use battery power. Does anyone out there have any experience with these?

Well, many people (me too) think the AKG C1000S sucks... but, it does work pretty good on drums sometimes... and it may work ok for what you need. Anyway, good luck and have fun.

Shure PG81 is a battery powered (AA battery) condensor. Specs seem pretty good. It's $119 everywhere or about $90 new on eBay.
