bass string suggestions

I'm looking for some suggestions for an Epiphone Viola. I typically play RotoSound roundwounds on all 3 of my basses (the other 2 are Fender solidbodies).

I used to play the Viola all the time, but the past few years less so. I mostly play fingerstyle, rarely with a pick, and of course don't really slap with the Viola. I mostly used the neck humbucker, but the bridge pickup has an interesting sound too. It's likely the Viola will just be used in recording direct and less likely in a live application or a mic'd amp.

I've been considering trying some flatwounds on the Viola, but in the past I've hated them. I'm ready to try them again or some tapewounds or others, but don't really know much about who makes a good alternative string for this bass.

I absolutely love Thomastik-Infeld Jazz flat wounds (JF324) on my vintag '75 EB-3. They feel great (I usually like high tension, but these feel good despite feeling really low-tension) and give the bass a nice focus. Even the later 70's EB-3's are thumpy and unruly. While slapping isn't a good thing on these, palm-muted picking is really nice. At $55, it's a bit painful to experiment, but they really made my bass work for me.
