Just up and running. New 424MKlll , SP-58 monitors, assorted mic's, cables and can's. Running into my Pent. 4, 1.7G, + 1.0G ram w/ dedicated 60G hardrive, using CEP 2.0......
I hear we all like to know what ride were talking about....hehe

So I track my drums, git. and was using a synth. for bass. Now I have a new Bass to add to the toy list and want to know about the direct in method for the bass.
Is it just line in or do I need a DI box...?
Thxs. in advance for what mite be the obvious, but I havn't had the chance to play w/ it yet.......

Most people like a tube DI like a countryman or Aigular (sp?). I still prefer the Senheiser 421 on a nice amp. Both is also done if you have the inputs.

You need to use some type of preamp before sending it into a line level input. If you want to go into a mic preamp you need to use a direct box first. If you have an instrument level DI on any of your preamps then you can use that.

Do you mean the U5?

While I think the U5 is the best sounding bass DI box I have ever heard, it still doesn't have that mic'ed amp sound...:( A combination of both is really ideal.

No, We have been using a M5 sometimes. I guess its actually a pre, but it has an instrument DI on it. I like it for a hip hop bass sound.

lol, Thxs for the input as I will be looking into these options....

I love my dog too......hehe

Will the input trim pot on my 424 Mklll work as a pre-amp for that application.....?
