i am trying to build a basic recording both some thing so i won't pick up the dogs and scooters out side it will be small buti just need to know what material i need to use if you got some ideas let me know

This is more of an isolation issue and isolation takes mass, and usually a good amount of it. I could give you a better idea of what you need if you can give me some sort of idea of how loud the scooters and dogs outside are. If you want a lot of isolation, you need something like filled cmu or at least something like another set of interior wall construction. Are you able to make modifications to the room or are you just renting the place?

r right well i cannot do much change to it because it's concret. but i only get sound comming in trhough the door i know it's not issolated properly thats why i want to know what materials are best to use and will not do to much damage to my pockets

Is the door you are concerned about the main entrance into your apartment/house/on an exterior wall or leading into a common hall/stairway?

If so, I would guess that the wall itself is insulated if it is a house or fire rated (double drywall) if it is a apartment building/hotel/dorm. You could hang heavy carpet on the door and then hang heavy fabric as a curtian over the entire entry way.

If the door is on an interior wall isde a house or apartment, you may still pick up outside noises if you add sound absorbing materials to the door only.

You could try the carpet/fabric on exterior windows as well.

This the simplest and least expensive way to control some of the outside noises with out isolating the whole room that I can think of.

well no its a separate room within my house it's about 4 feet all the way around (a square room) wooden door just a simple vocal booth no instruments nothing just my mic no windows other than the plexy glass on the door any more suggestions will do my good thankx

If you need isolation and space is an issue, you could look into deadsheets. I don't know what they run nowadays, but they can work wonders in blocking out sound.

Dead Sheets sounds like a good idea any one knows were i can get it

customaudiodesigns.co.uk if you are in the uk, if not, you can also search for it on the net (remember deadsheet is one word). Looks like somewhere in the one dollar/sq. foot range is common, though I could be wrong.

Did I read right, it's a small concrete room with a single door? Your modes are gonna be nasty, but adequate isolation might just require installing a solid wooden door and making sure it seals all the way around, bottom too. What are the floor and ceiling made of?

Cheers,

Otto

well the floor are concret but the roof is made out of ply-wood and sheet rock that can allways be change and what sort of insolation do you think i need
