Hey everyone, I have a laptop hooked up to my keyboard amp, and when the laptop is plugged into the charger and the wall, it gets a terrible static through the amp.

when its running on the battery, it sounds fine.

Its not the amp, i've tried it with several others, same thing, plugged in, static, battery, clear and clean.

Is there anyway I can some how insulate my laptop charger to keep the static down?

thanks.

Common problem with cheap quality laptop power supplies.

The only solution may be to record on batteries....

Question: Do you have everything plugged into the same wall socket or power strip?
Sometimes that can make a difference.

well, i tried using different powerstrips, and different outlets, but no difference, The static does not pick up in the recordings, just when you play music from the computer to the amp.

Right now, its just line out to the amp, and i'm getting a interface within the next few days, do you think that would help/hurt the problem?

found the problem, and a quick soultion, the ground wire is whats causing it, so i got one of those adapters with the 3 prong in, to just 2 out, and cut out the ground, and that eliminated the static.
