hey so i just got a new Behringer 2442fx mixer which i wanted to use for both live and studio mixing and editing but with the all the routing and troubleshooting I've come to realize that even though it comes with an audio interface it just isn't built for studio recording purposes.

I would like to get a setup so i can record at least 6 vocals/instruments simultaneously into my DAW i.e. not just one big track but actually have each instrument/vocal separate if i wanted to do live sets. I'm only explaining it because I'm not sure that I have the vocabulary right haha. But I have done some research on some interfaces. and i want to keep my budget around $200 i have a certain idea of the concept of INS and OUTS lke 6x2 or 8x8 deals but at minimum I wanted to have at least 6 INS

some Ive been looking at are the not too many but here are the ones in my budget

I really would like to get like M-Audio's Fast Track Ultra but that is a little out of my range and I've heard that the Mbox's are pretty good also but for now its a just a little out of my range.

and so after I get one and I did want to do some live performances with my mixer, is there a way to connect my mixer with the interface in other words if i wanted to be able to record live but still be able to see my vocals/instruments come out all separate in my DAW is that possible if i want to do that through my mixer?

thanks in advance!!

You're certainly on the right track but neither of those choices will give you what you want.
Second hand is usually pretty safe.
Maybe check out "Craig's List".
Good Luck with it.

TASCAM US-1641 or Fast Track Ultra

I'm stuck between this tascam US-1641 or the fast track ultra. also i know that it is possible with the Fast Track Ultra that I would only be able to have 6 Ins if I route it into my mixer. But I've heard lots good things about the Fast Track Ultra but the tascam is much cheaper and i can supposedly get more simultaneous tracks into my DAW which is what I want but i went to guitar center and they said that if i want to record out of my mixer Im gonna need more outs on my interface is this is true? anyway help between the 2 or suggestions on any other and choosing what is best for my situation

thanks!

Follow Tim's advice and it will go a long way towards helping you to decide.
Pop back in when you've done that and let us know if you find something.
The most important thing is to start out with something that will at the very least, cover your needs.

will do guys I did a little and it definitely has helped! so Ill do a little more research and let you guys know!
