Before I order It I want to know if this is good. Like will it be fine for a beginner? Oh can I just buy a crappy pair of closed headphones. Do they really matter or do i want a special kind?

You'll have to buy a power amp to run these as they are passive. I can't really imagine getting a set of decent active monitors for under $300. If your budget doesn't allow two purchases, you may be better of getting some good headphones for now.

Will these be good for a beginner recordist?
Monitors
Mixer
Headphones
I have 2 dynamic mics and everything else I need I think.

M-Audio is hard to beat in that price range. I haven't heard those monitors, so I can't speak of them directly. You'd probably want to add a subwoofer to them eventually because of their small speakers.

These are some nice headphones. Closed back. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=rec/search/detail/base_pid/244501/

Mixer wise, I can't really comment. I don't use a mixer in my set up.

okay i like the mixer and have done my research, so thats not a problem. I was most worried about the monitors. Will they give me what I want out of monitors? That flat eq?

What's your price limit on monitors?

To me, monitors are something you really only want to buy once, so its best to get the best you can afford first.

okay, i just wanted to make sure i wasnt buying the totally wrong thing or total trash. These do not need a preamp right? I can just run them straight from my mixer right?
