Well about 3 months ago I got an Ipod mini (not the best but its good enough) and In that time I have sent it away twice to get it repaired. The 2st time was because the ipod totally FUCKED up and the 2nd time because the imput jack is screwed.

Now I sent it away 2 weeks ago after getting the run around by apple (45 minutes on hold, foren call centre). So it arrived at Australia post today and we got a slip saying that we owe them $20. Well I go down and pay my $20 (it seemed odd but hey atleast it's fixed) Get back home and put my songs onto it.

1. The Fucken thing started to get hot whilst I was charging it
2. The inital problem of it showing the songs playing but it not working after I treid it though 7 sets of 1/8inch jack headphone/speakers was still there

Were going to ring consumer affairs tomorrow because I'm sick of this shit apple keep putting me through.

APPLE YOU CAN KISS MY ASS YOU FUCKEN PIECES OF SHIT!

Well thats my rant.

Anyone else had a problem with this company?

I find that when some people (younger folks mostly) become frustrated and have a hard time expressing themselves or have a difficult time working through problems, they resort to using foul language. I see it much like a newborn baby trying to communicate it's wants or needs but hasn't yet developed the necessary communications skills so they just close their eyes and scream. No matter how you try to sooth the babe, it's so involved with it's own frustations, there is no relief. They eventually fall asleep and get over it.

Just imagine your frustration if you had spent some real money and bought a MAC G5 and had a mother board go up in smoke?!

That was MY rant. :)

I personally have never been a fan of Macintosh. Their proprietary approach to business is something I can't get over...even though...even though, I have to admit some of their techological advances are note worthy. I own a heavy breather G5 myself. Customer service is something many large manufacturing and distributing companies have a hard time with. They don't want to be in the business of service but it's a necessary evil.

I'm sure service issues aren't specific to Apple/Mac. On the other hand, my son has an iRiver MP3 player which works and sounds great (not slaved to iTunes/MAC apps either)...he had it well over a year...warranty way past due...we emailed the company and they refurbed it for free and had it back in 5 working days. I like to think that everyone should do just a little homework when making purchases and while doing so, consider the service/repair aspect.

Best luck...hope you get things worked out.

Ohh I'm getting an Iriver next.

It just pissed me off because that $300 took me about 3 weeks work back when I bought it. (right now I could buy it in 1.5 weeks..GO ME)

Hang in there...Life is way too short for a full blown aneurysm at 16 :D

Good point I mean I still have my midlife crisis to look forward to :D

Yeah blame a company because one out of 42 million iPods sold messes up on you.

They're out to getcha.

Actually...in his defense...and please...don't quote me. My info isn't imperical but, what swayed me from purchasing one of the iPod products myself was my daughters experience and, a sales person at Best Buy who told me that the iPod in his experiece was more often returned than some of the other products they pedal. Take it with a grain considering the source of my info.

But you're right 40 + million units sold and one of the defective units gets distributed to a hypertensive youth. What are the odds?!! Breathe...just breathe ;)

You need the Australian version, where the hard drive spins the other way, like the toilets.

QUITE HIGH BECAUSE ITS THE WORLD VS ME :D

with apple, the issue is that theyre brilliant. the problem is that they know it.
the company as a whole, and thus most of the employees, have grown a very cocky attitude. Theyre on top and better than everyone at pretty much everything. they're just plain cocky. but i still need them, i am nothing without them.

As best I can tell from a web search on the subject, Apple has a call center in Australia, but it will roll over to another call center if there aren't any local reps free. One time, my call to the PowerBook line in the U.S. ended up being handled by an education rep in a different state. If you're consistently getting someone from another country, the best thing to do is to try calling back at a less busy time of day (or wait a couple of weeks for the after-Christmas "I don't know how to turn on my {insert device here}" rush to be over).

If that doesn't work, when you get to the call tree, press 0 repeatedly until you get an operator. Ask to be transferred to customer relations. Based on my experience, you will probably get a Texan. I'm not saying this is necessarily more understandable than... say a Sri Lankan, but.... :D

Lithium polymer packs do get warm when they charge. Nothing unusual there.

Did they return the same iPod to you? I got the impression that they just toss it in a bin of iPods to be refurbished and replace it with a refurbished unit from a different bin. If you got the same one back, it probably means some minimum wage employee in your local equivalent of a UPS logistics center got the packages mixed up. Either that or it never reached Apple in the first place.

I assume you have called Apple and (politely) asked them to correct this problem? They're human. Shit happens. Call them up and complain. Ask them to pay you back for the $20, too. :)

Allright I got through to an AUSTRALIAN ipod service centre and the lady was shocked (yeah right) to hear that they had done nothing. We are sending it to the lady and she is personally going to deal with it. (yeah right)

I'll just be happy to get my Ipod back so I don't have to listen to the goths on my bus.
