Someone lent me an old bass,Gibson EB-0.
It was working fine, then started cutting out on me.
I opened the back, and looks like somebody custom wired it!

There are wires coming from the pickup that are cut,and the 1/4 inch jack only has one wire attached.

Looks like they grounded it to a brass plate in the body.
They have a thick braid soldered right to the volume and tone controls.

I really don't have the money to have it serviced,so any help would be appreciated.
I can solder pretty well.

Mabey a website with some diagrams?

Thanks,
Pete

Heres a couple more for you to try,
stewmac.com and guitarnuts.com
make sure you provide the relevant information ie. pickup configuration, control pots and type of selector switch.

No I dont know how to wire a bass!

Dude,
when you opened the guitar up, I am hoping you noticed how exactly the wires were.

If not try this:

The ground wire has to go the ground plate. This is what prevents your buzz. This wire should be in black. If not, i dont know how to find if its ground or not without looking at it.

The lead wire from the pickups should go to your volume and tone. The tone should have a capacitor which bypassed this wire.

Try soldering the wires in different positions if it does not work. Trial and error will get it working. This can not harm your guitar.
Good luck ;)
