Problem #2. I have no inserts available for tracks on Pro Tools. I've installed all of the applications from the CD's, and when I start pro tools it says it's loading all of these, but I can't access them. So, for instance, I want to add a click to the tracks. I follow the instructions from Pro Tools, but the link isn't there. Any help?? : )

Yes, take it all back, get another sound card and try Reaper!

can we get some more information? What computer, OS, which version of Pro Tools?

If you're running a Mac Intel you need to make sure your plugins are Universal Binary. Most, I believe, have come out with updates...so check the manufacturer's website for the latest.
Check this if you have the Digi plugins for 7.x (it may work for 6.x versions)

There also might have been a disc that came with your stuff labeled "Protools for Intel based Macs". Make sure you used that.

Here is what I'm using:

Macbook Pro (the dual core, I believe)
M-Powered Pro Tools
Firewire 1814 interface

Thanks!

Ahh.....maybe that's the problem. I updated Pro Tools to version 7, but I don't think I did the plug ins. Hopefully that's the problem?

Ok....so I've been going crazy tonight doing updates, re-installs, etc. I went to that link and downloaded all of those updates but after I installed them and started Pro Tools, it said my Ilok wasn't authorized. So I reinstalled the 7.1 version, and all of the plug-ins, etc. But I still have none when I go to use them. In the mix window there is only one box where there should be 2 send boxes and 1 insert box. When I go to add a click track, there's not even the "plugin" option on the drop down box. Maybe I'm wrong, but shouldn't updating to 7.1 update the plugins as well? I'm following the Pro Tools 7 book step by step, but something isn't right. I emailed Digidesign a month ago about it and never heard anything back. This is insane.

Wild stab here-- are you *sure* you're hitting the insert section of the mixer and not the send section?

Check the View Menu -> Edit Window... and see what's checked. If nothing else, try checking "all" and ALL of your inserts, sends, etc. should show up. Inserts should be a the very top with sends being a lighter shade of gray just below them.

I recall that I had to update some plugs manually- but the Digirack plugs *should* have been updated by the installer.

Check this folder, too, to make sure there is stuff in it:

Macintosh HD: Library: Application Support: Digidesign: Plug-Ins

At least thats where they are with PT LE. Could be that the installer is putting them somewhere else for some reason. I've had that happen before but not with Digi's own stuff.

 You might also try calling Digi tech support. If you're under warranty then they are usually pretty responsive.

Good luck!

Yeah, from what your saying your sends isn't even showing. follow Chris's answer & you should be fine. You can always hit CTRL and the = key to bring up the mix window & see if you can access them there, if you can, then your sends view in edit window isn't showing, which you would make them viewable. I usually just click on the little icon on the tool bar on the left upper hand, close to the corner, and click on what I want to view, from comments to the insert/sends view etc...

Great!!! Thanks a ton guys....turns out, after all of that shit, the inserts and instruments weren't checked. Thanks for saving me some additional big time headaches!
