i just re-mixed this, and messed around with the exciter section of my mastering stuff.........

Daybreak

this is a Taylor 414, through a Audio tecnica 4033, into a ART MP tube pre, into my vs880ex.

Very nice! If I get a Taylor, will I be able to play that well?:D

Bob

if you play like this you could record with radio smack mics, and it'll still sound good. great playing and recording. now I'm gonna take my toys and go home now.

very nice arrangement. what other processing did you do? that kicked ass. Was the percussive sound a body tap? Very effective. Nice job taming the finger squeeks on the slides. Did you do something in particilar for those squeeks?

This is going in my save file. Nice job.

Very nice play. Good arrangement. I found the guitar sounds a little small for my taste, but I really enjoyed the whole thing.

I want that 414CE, but I have to sell my car first! Wait....my car's not worth that much. Rats.

Woooo! Larry Coryell sound. Extremely cool. Mikey likes it.:D
Just a little P.S. I recently picked up a XXV-GA (25th anniversarry model, no cutaway). I think I'm in love.

thanks for the replies everyone !

Buffalo Bob-
you know, they just rounded up a bunch of your brethren out on antelope island this past weekend..... ;)
yes, if you purchase a Taylor, you will play so much, your fingers will turn into little arnold schwarzennegers.............. :)
incidently, i got my 414 for a real nice deal through, of all places, guitar center........

dtb-
don't go home, hang out and jam...... and i hope that my at4033 sounds better than a radio smack, or i just threw away $360......

JR#97-
processing- just a bit of ambient reverb......
there's no percussion, so i think it's just me tapping the body as i'm muting the ends of some of the chord changes......
and as far as taming the squeeks, that's the one thing i thought i failed miserably at on this one! i hear it squeeking a lot! oh well, they were brand new strings, and frankly, i just don't have enough technique to not do it..... though honestly, i kind of like the idea of leaving them in, cuz it makes it sound more natural to me.....

Jim Solowy-
yeah, small sound..... i really think i've got to add a soundhole pickup to this sound..... this is purely miced sound, so it's all about whatever the mic is hearing at that moment, and i know from experimenting with other guitarists' rigs that, when you blend in either the piezo or soundhole pickup, with the mic, and get the phasing right, i think that's the best sound of all...... gives the most possibilities of eq........
it helps to play this loud through a home system, to get the full effect.... did you listen through phones, monitors, computer speakers, or home stereo........?

Track Rat-
man, larry coryell....... i don't hear that name tossed around too often... i appreciate the compliment, though i don't come anywhere near Larry C's talent... he's a monster......
tell me about the xxv-ga...............

FREE THE ANTELOPE ISLAND BUFFALOS!!!!!!!

No Justice, No Peace!:D

Dude! It's a grand auditorium sized, no cutaway, Sapele back and sides, Sitka spruce top, Ebony fingerboard, and you have to see the inlay. Grover tuners and the buttons are made of ebony. It's a work of art.
They only made 500. Mine is #345 and signed by Mr. Taylor.

LOL!
We used to ride our bikes out to Antelope Island when I was a kid.

A few years ago, my brother was out there doing some volunteer work clearing roads and stuff and a spark shot when his shovel hit a rock and he set the island on fire. Pretty dry stuff out there.

Hey Gonz,
Wow man, ...thats a beautiful sounding guitar. Very very nice. You know, I had never been very familiar w/ Taylor's til I started frequenting this place. Ive heard some very nice stuff in here by folks using them (this being a prime example). What a great sounding guitar. Very nice playing and recording too.

Great stuff,

sweet

good one! besides the sound of it, I really love that melody..

the fret noise was a bit loud in a few parts.. I liked the sound of it, but a few times it sounded loud..

great music and playing..

man. nice sounding guitar and excelent playing. maybe a little noisy on the fret slides but that's the only thing that stood out to me. sounds great. i love this stuff.

Nice job. I have a Taylor 410 and I can’t play nearly that well. (In case anyone was gonna rush out and buy one.) I use Elixir strings and the first day I put them on it all just seems out of control. :) I think they are better after they’ve had a couple of days to settle down. I also have a 4033 but I don’t think I could get that sound. Must be the player.

Although the Taylor has a wonderfully clear sound, I miss having a warmer, fuller bass for some things. The Taylor is more metallic and tinny in the lower strings. I think I must just need another guitar. Yeah, that's it, another guitar.

Sah-Mooooooooooooooooth!

Gawd this is pretty.....

Excellent playing man....very smooth and full...
The verb is just right for my taste....

Reminds me of Al Dimeola.....good performance man...good recording job as well....

Only nit is that I can hear the tappin' too....a few squeaks here and there...but, I like sqeaks now and then...ya know? :D

You should submit this to Taylor.....
They put out a compilation CD every year to go out with their new line of guits.....

Very cool,
Rock on man....

That might beef it up a bit. So would a second mic. Don't get me wrong though. It's a terrific piece in every respect. I listen to quite a bit of this sort of music and you did a fine job.
