hey there knowledgeable people!

so i just sold off my fender hot rod deluxe because it was just too large and too loud for my needs... however i really liked the sound... it was my first tube amp... i know it sounds strange but i'm playing an acoustic through it... it's a yairi wy-1 and i loved the tone i was getting with the two... so can anyone recommend a new amp for me? has to be smaller than the deluxe but still have great tone... i am thinking it will have to be tube again but perhaps some companies are making decent tube-imitators? i'm thinking perhaps the fender blues junior but i'd like to get other's input since there are so many amps out there these days and they all have unique tone... i am looking to spend $250 or under and will probably end up going with a used amp at that price, but that's fine with me... thanks so much!

The Blues Junior would be good choice. Just watch out for the cheap input jacks wearing out or breaking.

If you liked the Hot Rod Deluxe then you'll like the Blues Junior. And there's always the Blues Junior Pro which has a 10" in it. Even smaller and a little cheaper than the regular Junior.

i don't believe such an amp exists although i could be wrong... perhaps it's an older amp that i am not aware of as i am not very schooled on vintage amps... but as far as i thought, there was the blues junior and the pro junior?

He is refering to the ProJunior. There isn't a Blues Jr. with a 10". I have a Pro Jr. that I bought after I sold the BluesJr. The Pro is much better for recording IMO. No stupid reverb or master volume to get in the way. And the speaker out solves anyones apprehention to 10" speakers.

The HotPlate is an attenuator. It connects to the speaker output and turns the energy into heat and then sends the signal to the speaker. It has a volume control so you can have whatever level you want while still cranking the powertubes. Much like the Marshall PowerBrake. The hotplate is made by THD. Gibson just outsourced THD to make them one too.
