I want to get one of the amp modellers out there. I searched to forums and got a sense of what others were saying.

Currently I am recording at home and not doing any live playing. However, it would be nice to have something that could be used in the future live as an multi-effects pedal. Currently I have a Fender strat which I run into a Fender M-80 amp, SM57 mike to an M-Audio DMP3 --> Audiophile 2496 soundcard.

I am considering the Pod XT Live. Sound on Sound gives the Pod XT a good review. I like that it also has included effects. However, the Digitech GNX3 looks like it may have similar features. I don't really need the built in recorder or drum machine, however, because I do that on the computer.

Some people on these forums also recommend the Vox Tonelab. Can anyone explain to me the difference in these models, and make some recommendations. Anything else out there that anyone would recommmend? Thanks.

Jamie, I just recently got a POD XTL, and it works great for me. I have been playing it through an old Carvin amp, and it sounds pretty good as just some effects pedals. I like many different sounds, and can't afford to buy all the pedals I want, so the mutieffects works out great for me. I also have to play quiet quite often, so being able to record direct was a priority for me. If you only need a few effects, this might be a waste, but if you want lots of versatility, it might be what you are looking for. You can get rid of the factory presets, and download a bunch off the web, or just make your own up.

Just my input, but I am happy with it.
Ed
