not to beat dead horses but...

I'm gonna buy a pair of MC 012s and have some q's.

I want the omni and f-8 capsule flexibility but Musicians Friend has a $199 special on these without them.

Can I buy them afterwards?
Are they exorbitantly priced after the fact?

thanks guys,

I know of no Figure 8 capsules for the 012's, only omni, cardiod and hypercardiod. Also the Lomo 33 mm capsule that's cardiod. They all can be bought after the fact. The Sound Room has them for sure. Don't know about guitar Satin. I personally wouldn't buy them there but that's just my opinion.

oh yeah. hyper(super). that's what I meant. whoops!

as always though, price point is a bit of an issue. I'll check out soundroom to see how much more they want... I know, I know... you get what you pay for.

Thanks TR,

just so I get this straight, the matched pair with six capsules is $659. But I'm hearing from the Rat's mouth that it is worth it. wow, I gotta go sell some more blood, methinks. :(

Take a chance, if you don't like 'em, send them back.

Any Oktava to be depended on IMHO should be purchased from
www.oktava.com. I'd "take a chance" there!
I think they have a good return policy that you can check out on their site.

The Guitarrgh Center sells a "capsule kit" for $99 that contains an omni and a hypercardioid capsule for the 012. The Sound Room
(same thing as www.octava.com). will sell you any capsule for $65.00 and I forget the price for a matched capsule pair. In my experience, GC is a better deal for 1 mic, but you're going to have to listen to a few mics and maybe return 1 until you get a good one- or maybe not, I lucked out on the first try.
For a matched pair, and mics you can depend on, Taylor Johnson's value added at The Sound Room is worth every penny.
One piece of advice about the 012's- The paint on the capsules that indicates the polar pattern sucks, and wears off, so mark them yourselves, or you may get them mixed up.-Richie
