Hello from a nooby

I've just bought an Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire to try some home recording with guitar and vocals.
I'm new to all this and don't want to fry my set up by trying something you're not supposed to do, so I need some expert advice.
My question is: Can I take an Aux Send from Line 1 into an external processor and then return it to Line 2, or does it have to come back to Aux Return?
This way I can record the clean Line 1 and the processed Line 2 into seperate tracks in the computer.
Sorry if its a simple question, but I really don't know

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the board, Henry.

What you want to do is not only no problem, it's something that's done fairly often.

All the gear and all the ins and outs you're talking about are designed to operate at and expect standard line level signal voltages. They are all talking the same language, so to speak.

Thanks

Thanks for your input, it cleared a lot of grey areas.
I can now configure my mixer and Digitech VL4 to record main vocal, harmony line and processed guitar into individual tracks with Sonar.
Many Thanks
