Akg D440 Vs.

Ok I need a bass drum microphone, I was thinking about the beta 56 of 52 (whatever one was the beta57 just looking different) or an sm57. Then the AKG D440 came along on ebay and it seems to be in my price range.

What are your experiences with this mic?

i would try a Audix D6... don't get a whole lot of press, but they are pretty damn sweet. $199 @sweetwater and musiciansfriend. good luck bro, what's your price range???

The D440 is really more of a cab, tom, and brass mic than a kick mic. For kick, most people would favor AKG D112, Audix D6, or Shure Beta 52 in the sub-$200 price range. There are more versatile mics that do kick and a whole lot more, such as Electrovoice RE20, but that is not a $200 mic.-Richie
