Hi. I'm not a guitar player. I suck at guitar. I don't intend to ever be a really good guitar player, either. But for the purposes of creating and recording my own music I'm looking for an inexpensive, but decent, first "not-completely-shitty" guitar that will stay in tune. I'm going to be running it through A LOT of distortion and fx usually, and will very rarely play it completely clean. As long as it doesn't sound like utter crap when clean, and I don't have to constantly baby it- I'll be happy. I will probably record directly alot, and occasionally run it through an amp (which I'm also looking into... Tech 21, Orange and Ashdown are the three companies that seem to have what I'm looking for in regard to features/price. Feel free to make suggestions about that, too, if you'd like. I'll make a dedicated post about the amp selection at a later date, though.) I don't anticipate playing the guitar live anytime soon.
So- I'm looking at the Agile 3000 LP and the Washburn WI64 as they seem to get really positive reviews from real people and some magazines. Do you have any experience with either/both of these? Is there anything else without a bolt-on neck I should consider that's in the sub-$400 price range? Not a necessity, but, preferably a new guitar.
Thank you.

I have an Agile 3000 LP (Honey Burst), and it's wonderfull!! I have no exp. with the Washburn, so I can't comment there.

I've had my Agile for about 2 years now, and it's a very nice guitar regardless of the price. I also have a custom made Jackson Soloist, 64' SG Standard, 50th Ann. Strat, Kramer Striker.........So I feel that I'm maybe not an expert on what makes a "good" guitar, but after playing for 25 years and collecting all the guitars I have, I can tell you that I won't be selling my Agile! :D

Here's a pic of the guitar:

It looks really nice in that lineup. It looks like a much more expensive/quality guitar than it's pricetag would lead one to believe. Nice. Any comments on the tuners they come with? Have you had any problems or found any "annoyances" regarding it?
Thanks for your reply.

Nope,

I believe it's got Grove tuners on it, and wilkinson pickups (Which are very nice by the way! - That was to my surprise as I had already picked out some Seymour Duncans to put in it when I bought it......but I liked them so much I never swapped them out. :) )

I just had a set up done on it and let er' eat!

Rick
