....some questions re: adat routing. Ive got a recorder that has adat capabilities.

..... does each adat in/out have the capability of moving 8 tracks?

.....what is the difference between and adat in/out and a spdf in/out..... (speak clearly........... this is something ive never messed with)

Both formats transfer digital audio data.

ADAT (Alesis Digital Audio Tape) is 8 channels of 24 bit/44.1 or 48kHz, or 4 channels of 24/88.1 or 96 (if your gear supports the higher sample rate).

S/PDIF (Sony/Phillips Digital InterFace) is stereo (two channel) 24/44.1 or 48.

S/PDIF connectors can be either coaxial (RCA) or optical (TOSLINK). ADAT cables are always optical, and use the same TOSLINK connectors as optical S/PDIF.
