Acid Pro 7 and cakewalk guitar tracks 3 not picking up my mic...

Hello I'm Kcguitfiddle and I am a singer songwriter. I am running windows Vista and I cant seem to get my input to show up on the EQ on any of my recording software. If I record it is just a blank line. It shows up on the computers little EQ meter that is found by right clicking on the microphone symbol on the task bar but not on my software. I had the problem with cakewalk and thought it was just a cakewalk thing but it doesn't work on my Acid either. What can I do??? It was showing on the cakewalk as soon as i installed it but once I restart it it doesn't show up any more... Thank you all so much...
 
Is the soundcard set up in Cakewalk as the input? Change to MME or WWM or whatever.

I have got Acid working fine now. I havn't went back to cakewalk yet cause I'm worried about messing something up again lol. Thanks so much for trying to help..:):):). Kcguitfiddle
