i've had mixed opinions about this room... its huge. some guys are telling me to baffle and gate everything... others seem to think this will be a beautiful place to record..... i've recorded here a few times, but its mostly live so there is a lot o noise coming from everywhere... however i have recorded a few drum tracks there which sound awesome...

the room is 70' x 40' with 20' ceilings (approx, i think) the wall behind the drums is solid concrete and the wall with the wooden panels is just tin sheets... the wood panels extend about half the height of the wall....

i will be recording bass direct and have a nice little room for the guitar amp to sit in....

anyway what i am after is a few suggestions on recording techniques in a large room.....

sorry about the quality o the pics

My room is a little smaller, it was 40 x 50 with 16 foot cieling until I cut 2 corners off for iso rooms . I went with a modified "live end - dead end" approach with half hardwood floors and half carpeting. The carpeted half has strategically placed thick (like 2"+) wall hangings, several 4'x8' absorptive/diffusive gobos and a lot of overstuffed furniture. The wood floor end has wall board & plaster and a couple of corner ab./diff. panels. Basically, anything but the floors can be moved, and by positioning instruments and people within, I can get any thing from damn near dead, to empty warehouse ambience.
