i just rewired my studio due to a pyramid pr 8800 mixer i bought and i have a few questions. here goes:

1. i just read B-Mac's post, and does this mean i need to run the mic to the mixer for it to record using line-in instead of the mic jack.
2. i hooked the mixer outputs to the cpu, using the following signal chain.

Left and Right 1/4 jacks out to 1/8 line in, santa cruz soundcard.

i think the problem is i used mono 1/4 converters from the rca jack ends. i guess my question is, if i bought a cable to convert to jacks (left and right) to one jack, would the left and the right need to be in stereo, cuz i mono ends on each one, and when i record, it sounds like shit. it sounds like its playing over a phone line.

3. i noticed that my sound is bland, but if i turn up the bass and the treble the whole way, it sounds so much more active. are there any disadvantages to this.

thank u all so much for ur unending advice and criticism, i would be nothing without it.

So .... let's see. Your mixer has left and right 1/4" out's and your soundcard has a stereo 1/8" Line In?
Yes ... grab two of these and one of these and you should be good to go.

I don't know that particular mixer, but if you find that you still need to boost the EQ way up ... you may need to look at your source (what you are recording, Mics, placement ... etc).

thats what i thought, i picked both up and boom, it stills records like it recording a phone line. i thought they should be mono, but it just keeps giving me shit.
