Hows this for a horror story, our bass player used to live in a small mining town up here in North Western Australia that is a company town and everyone knows everyone else so they had no qualms about setting their gear up in the local Football Club hall (Aussie Rules not Grid Iron) for practice and leaving it there till the weekend when they would pick it up for the weekend gig.
One Saturday morning he got a phone call to say the hall had caught fire.
When he got there, all there was to see was a pile of smouldering ash and roofing iron.
All their gear, he was using two bass amps at the time, nothing was left.
The good thing about it was the other groups in town loaned them amps and PA they still had their guitars and they ran a few benefits at the pub and eventually were able to replace the lost stuff. But it's a lesson "DONT LEAVE YOUR GEAR AT A GIG"
