alright - what is the difference between 16-bit and 24-bit recording? is the quality better?

also - does the SantaCruz (80 bucks) have 16 or 24?

thanks

Sorry about posting such a boring answer but search the web. This is explained in a gazillion places.

This question was answered indepthly about a week ago (you can do a search on this BBS).

BTW, there is a huge EXPONENTIAL difference between 16bit and 24bit. :D

peace...

24 bit is a more accurate quality as it contains more of the origional signal information.

As I understand, when you mix and burn to CD the quality is reduced to CD's 16 bit max. But recording at the higher bit rate affords a buffer margin for degradation associated with adding effects.

Hope that makes sense.
