15 inch LCD

Hello Everyone I was wondering if it is possible to use 15 inch LCD's. I haven't "heard" anybody mention them. Is it true that LCD's are quieter. Thanks Again!!

Of course it's possible...you can use any kind of monitor you want.

They are quieter in that they throw off less noise, which is especially good if you're tracking instruments near the monitor. The downside is that 15" is not a lot of space

I'm also thinking about getting a 15" TFT monitor to replace one or even possibly 2 of my current monitors. Currently I have 2 display cards and 2 15" CRT monitors in my win98 system and I think 2 smaller monitors is better than one large. If I can afford just one TFT I can shut down the CTR monitor while recording and use them both while mixing.

Stay away from 15" Flat Panels. They can only handle 1024x768 resloution. When you use 17"ers, the resolution goes up to 1280x1024.

Flat panel displays only look good in their native resolution. Anything lower and the image is very fuzzy.

Agreed....they are great for recording but if you do intense graphics as well, you may be dissapointed, especially in regards to price.

Having 2 15" panels side by side gives you 2048 x 768 and that's 20% more display area compared to single 17" at 1280 x 1024. And the 15's are a lot cheaper and easier to find used.

I totally agree with that.

Except that you're still running each monitor at 1024x768, and there's a big honking gap between them. Dual monitors is great...i run dual monitors...but it's good to have a least ONE monitor that's in the 17" (19" preferred) range for editing and mixing.

A 15" LCD would be great for tracking though!
