About a year ago I started receiving the Decades tv channel in my OTA signals. They show several 30 min compilations of various Ed Sullivan shows each day. A lot of appearances by big musical acts of the 60s-70s.
I thought that would be pretty cool at first, but about half the appearances these groups are performing songs that are not their top of the chart hits. Then, the other half of their perfomances are their big hits. These appearances aren't dated and many are out of sequence date-wise, so maybe in real time their first 1 or 2 appearances were their charted hits and later shows were fresher material they were trying out.
Ok either way, just that seeing The Supremes or, say, Paul Revere and the Raiders performing songs on the Ed Sullivan Show that I swear I've never heard on the radio is a strange experience.
