If you're in or around Houston and you like jazz at all, you should come to the Trinity Jazz Festival at Trinity Episcopal Church at Main & Holman in the midtown neighborhood.

The website is: http://www.trinityjazzfest.net/

We've got some good headliners - Kirk Whalum, Jason Marsalis -- follow the link for all of them.

This is my church, and I'm volunteering as a grunt this year. One thing I'm looking forward to is the "Master Class" on Saturday - I'm trying to learn drums (been working at it for about 6 weeks now :) ) - maybe I'll understand what Jason Marsalis has to say in about 20 years...

Anyway - don't miss it!

This is a-goin' on folks...

Hope you caught tonight's performance - Kirk Whalum (sax), Matt Lemler (piano/vox), Roland Guerin (upright bass), Jason Marsalis (drums), Kim Prevost (vox).

The performance blew me away - most of the time I want to like jazz - but tonight I loved it.

Tomorrow morning at 10 is a master class - Dr. Zaragemca - Jason Marsalis teaching drums -- how about it? I'm going. It's *FREE* - Jason is *GOOD*

Tomorrow night - Gary Weldon's opening, and the headliners are Brad Leali (sax), Bob Henschen (piano), Derrick Lewis (bass), and Clyde Adams (drums).

I bought two VIP tickets for tomorrow night, but I'm ushering again - PM me if you're interested - I'll give them to you (if I've still got'em).
