HomeRecording on the Radio!

Dragon

Large and Scaly Mixing Maniac
On Tuesday, February 3, 2004, HomeRecording.com will be featured on the Music Talk Internet radio show, on World Talk Radio. Your friendly neighborhood Dragon will be interviewed by the show hosts, Ed and Sully (who is our very own DS Sultan).

Talk about it here!

Good to see you again Dragon.

Great!.....An interview, and a new forum all of a sudden, although I think there is much more demand for different forums first that have been requested by many, many users... For instance.. a vocalist forum. But it is your site, and your the boss. All we can do is request and offer suggestions. I understand that.

I'm sort of hoping the site will be repaired before it gets advertised on a radio program. It barely runs now as it is. There is a "too many users" message that is all too familiar... Alot of the time threads time out before they can load. Alot of us have emigrated to other sites to do our main home recording messaging due to the lack of solidity in the way this site mechanically runs, and due to poor moderation.

So you can see how I was a tad suprised/concerned when I heard that there will be an interview about the site.

I'm sure this would be better placed in the feedback forum, and if so, you may move it there. But I thought it would fit best in the related topic.

I am thankful that your wonderful site is here for us at all. So don't get me wrong on those points. I do appreciate the site and the only reason I am frank about this stuff is due to my love for the site and for most of the people that use it.

I am prepared to make a decent donation to the tipjar if the repairs or extra space to run this site properly is a money issue.

VV, this is the first I hear of these technical problems. I will also be the first to admit I haven't been following the feedback forum regularly, and that I have been overwhelmed at times. But I haven't been up to snuff for quite a while, either, so I do what I can...like starting this forum because it seemed like a good place to put this thread, which DS Sultan specifically asked me to do.

Let's keep this thread (at least!) on topic and leave the grousing for another time and place.

I'm sorry but WHAT other time and WHAT other place?
You just admitted you have not even checked the fedback forum so when is the appropriate time and where is the place that you allude to?

Why is my post where I try and offer some REAL feedback in a helpful way considered off topic but the pats on the back are considered on-topic. Geez.

Thats all I will say for now.

Back to topic.

first off, my excitement to see what this thread contained was clobbered by a few "too many users" messages.....that isnt relevent?.....

Voxy was just looking out for the site....you are gonna invite a nice chunk of people to come check out the site for them to get a "too many users message".......

back to topic.....

Hi Dragon,

Great to see you around!!!

Have fun on the interview.

(btw, VV is right; we all feel pretty much that way)

Hi Everyone!
I'm Jennae and I frequent the World Talk Radio show a bit,
and I just want to say I'm glad to see Dragon come on the show tuesday, I always like when they pull in various site admins and discuss their sites and what's behind them.

But I can also relate from a user stand point when things become upsetting. Although I tend to believe the people that care most are the same ones that get upset :shrugs:

Usually because they care...

This site does seem fabulous though, and the information on here great! Hell I wish I would have known about this place sooner for I use cubase

anyways...

I'm new...
hope that's ok ;)
maybe sometimes when places become busy and well utilized,
extra staff is needed to assist in making sure things work well :shrugs:

I hope you all find a solution though..

But ending this let me say
GOOD LUCK ON TUESDAYS SHOW DRAGON!

I'll be listening!

p.s. does this mean I can't add your link to my http://indieintrusion.com/ site??

You are 10000% absolutely correct on all points.....:)

"p.s. does this mean I can't add your link to my http://indieintrusion.com/ site?? "

this one too???

This is a great place for info..
I think indie's need to know about it.

And hey
I just stopped frequenting a site I called home for over a year due to (ahem) issues...

been there
done that

but I also know that some additional support that was being received in administration has been recently lost due to someone elses site getting busy that was assisting their efforts... if I am not mistaken. :shrugs:

I just recommend that maybe you the community can seek ways of assisting the place you care much for.
I tried where I was at previously to assist as much as possibly, but things don't always work out :sigh:

But to seek a solution is always best..
than to allow things get to a point to where you become extremely frustrated and irked into not wanting to participate at all.

I only stated what I have because I'm rocking that same boat..
but my topped over...

so maybe a good thing to ask is
is there a thread
(forgive me cuase I am new and not too familiar)
that allowed users to make comments on suggestions?
State problems with the sites functionabilities?
a way for users to feed back on their griefs so to speak?

and if so
is the issue those comments not being addressed??

and if so
why not??
is the admin here stressed and not supported in their administration enough?

which tends to be the case...
and if so..

how can the users and the people who do care
assist to help to make things better??

I do what I do..
mainly becuase I have great people around me and I utilize them, and network and assist others any way I can.

I don't mean to barge in here and start boasting things in a thread
but I know this situation well,
I think the sites purpose is much desired to many muscians..
and I just know how sh*tty it was for me to be frustrated and receive no solution.

Is there a solution?

But I do really want to add this link to my site
for this place could have done wonders for me while I was battling my cubase several previous times...
and as I am now :sigh:

I just want to see people have access to means of helping themselves and I just found this place 3 years too late
heh

anywho~
good day to you all...

and please listen on tuesday

Jennae,

There is the Visitor feedback forum here for passing comment, suggestions, etc., but as Dragon pointed out, it has not been monitored for some time.

The fact that people are establishing and finding other more accepting ports to sail their "musical ships" into is only natural considering the general air of apathy which seems to have attached itself to the HR hierachy over the last year or two.

I myself have learnt so much here (nods to John Sayers at this point), and I really hope that it can pick itself back up to the level it used to be at.

BTW, I like the look of what you are doing at your site :)

ok question
#1
these post are from 8 and 9-2003
???

I have noticed a major drag in the system that is for sure
but strangly that seems to only pertain when you are moving within the system for cmoing into the system in lickity split.

server could definitely be seeing some issues here.
And with a site as large as this user wise.. maybe it's time to upgrade eh?

But it's not like you are hosting any audio files on here...
few images here and there...

I mean how outrageous can text get??

/me thinks

well I can say
SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE it

done this been here too OMG
site's completey offline
pages never loading
music not streaming
not being able to access my home pages
yadda yadda yadda...

but I am sure with all these intelligent people up in here someone must have some ideas to offer to the dragon master to sooth our surfing needs??

:shrugs:

what are some ideas we can trouble shoot to offer specifics for Drag to look into...

let's nail this thing and get to better surfing habits...
that is if it's not a new server in general that is needed :shrugs:

just my 2 cents..

anyone???

Thanks Aus.. much appreciations for taking the time to look!

ok so maybe if dragon has not the time to look into these issues and monitor these problems...

would he consider allowing someone who can and will??

Is there somone who si willing to assist in this manner?

Is there someone who is capable of trouble shooting the system as such in these parts??

trying to sort some ideas.. let's make something happen here..

Jennae - Slackmaster 2000 appeared to have that role for a period but he gave up and went and started his own site. So did I except that mine is really only covering one specialised forum and Iallwo bigger pics which suits my specialisation.

there was a period recently when all you got was a page of jumbled data when you tried to post - Q said he'd phone the dragon - no action again and no replies to people's complaints.

Personally I can't understand how the biggest music recording site in the world, (none of the others come near it in traffic) appears to go completely unattended. If you donate you don't even get a thankyou.

cheers
john

ouch!
that is a d*mn shame! :(

I hear that though.
I just traveled to Baltimore in Dec. to play at an boycott RIAA debate, 8hour my time my cost, but I wasn't too concered all for the cause right??...and for a site I was a heavily participating muscian at. No handshake or thanks you for coming.....for any of the musicians. And then there was an articlewrite up on the event afterwards, I got the only mention out of us that went saying I played til my fingers bled... and nothing more.
I was soo disappointed...
and this is a site that claimed to be supporters of the INDIE MUSIC..

yeah that totally sucks...royal.

And no doubt on all the traffic and great info up in here WOW
I'm loving it.

But I must admit I have offed 2 pm's to certain people and agreed....
no response.... :sigh:

d*mn shame.

hmmm...

well this should make the live radio interview on tuesday interesting eh??
Maybe we'll learn something there :shrugs:

oh and did you know they take callers...?

I believe I can even set something up so we can have the listeners participate in a chat room at http://artistcollaboration.com/

:shrugs:

this could give you SOME close to direct contact maybe

just an idea.
