want to build a high quality tube mic preamp

Hi ALL: My friend loves working on and building tube guitar amps and is interested in building a high quality tube mic preamp. He has never messed on this end and asked me to do some research. Are there any schematics available out there or do you have to buy a kit like from seventh circle. I am using a UA 610and would like it to be of this quality or better. I am totally ignorant to all this stuff. I just plug in and play. Thanks! Walter

How does the Grayaf compare to the Hamptone?

I made a G9 and a hamptone JFET preamp. IMO the JFET sound much clear on the high end. However I only use cheap transformers (oxford) in the G9. Hope this helps.
