Hey Mike, I'm listening to Open your eyes now. I like this song. The recording is good and good playing too! I will check out the rest as soon as I get some more time. You have got some talent for sure. Thanks for the tunes, Charva What keyboard did you use to get that nice organ sound on...

transfer from mini disk to computer!!

To transfer to computer, I have to... go headphone out of MD into LINE IN of computer soundcard. You need to re-record from MD to your computer using a recording software (cool edit pro is what I use) mix down what you recorded to PCM WAV format (44.1 / 16 Bit) Save file Then you can burn...

    Country'ish...kinda

Great tune David! I noticed a few small timing issues but I believe they add to the relaxed atmosphere of the song. Great vocals man and the guitar work is cool too!

http://www.coraconnection.com/pages/balaphone.html It appears that Balaphone is an insturment, not a wood type.

    Hey Waldo!

Put the disclaimer "For educational purposes only. Not intended for sale or distribution" or something to that effect with the posting. I took all my "cover tunes" off NWR a few weeks ago out of respect for Waldo and his enterprise "not the spaceship" I think that may get you off the hook...

    Monitors?

I also do the home stereo setup with these Bose 2001 speakers I bought at Sams Club a couple of years ago http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3003530530&category=14991 These are great little speakers and I just love them.

Experimenting with some new methods on an old favorite

You most certianly have a signature sound Jim. Very nice take on a great song. I thought I heard some analog tape hiss or maybe you recorded this without much post-production noise reduction (amp noise?) I would like to hear your stuff with a female vocalist for a change. Not that your voice is...

What DAW (PC/MAC) Software do you use?

Howdy boys and girls. My modest setup is a 4 year old Atholon 500Mhz, 512Meg RAM, Cakewalk PA9 for recording tracks and mixing, Cool Edit Pro for FX and trimming and use the MP3 encoder in CEP to convert to MP3.

whats the diff between tube and solid state?

Yes, tube amps are still in production Subtractor. I must have forgot to mention that.

    how do these drums sound?

I will be using this set of drums for recording soon. This is a 1 min clip of the drums using a stereo mic (decent but not real expensive) into a MiniDisc recorder. I like the natural reverb of the room but may need to tone it down a bit for recording. Comments? "Drum set sample"...

    A Whirlwind... CD Version

My 1st listen to this song. Got the Thrill is Gone feel to it musically speaking. From what I heard on my speakers is the cymbals were not "ringing" so to speak (a little muddy). The vocals sound pretty good over here, very clean for a raspy voiced singer/talker. Considering the cheap speakers...

whats the diff between tube and solid state?

Years ago and once upon a time, vacuum tubes were used in amplifiers. Then, someone invented transistors to replace tubes because they were smaller and required less power to operate. Think of it this way....people used to ride horses until the automobile was invented. Most of the people now...

What Stereo Plug Do I Need?

your CD Boombox probably has a 1/8 stereo mini jack. I dunno what the line out jack is on the MR8. Just as long as you go line out from recorder into line in of boombox, just make sure the plugs are stereo and it should work ok. Good luck, Charva

    retraining...

Or you could work for Waldo. He needs a full time fund-raiser person to panhandle money and scour dumpsters for computer parts. Of course this would be volunteer work with no pay and crazy hours. If Waldo starts a business called......hmmmmm The NWR School of Recording Engineering and Sound...

Direct Injection Box with a guitar amp

I would go Guitar=DI Box=Soundcard and dont use the cab emulation on the DI Box. That should give you the cleanest/un-colored tone. But what do I know, experiment with different setups until you find a tone you can live with. Check out the modest equipment I use and links to tunes at...

Direct Injection Box with a guitar amp

I think we need a little more info. What type of sound are you looking for? Are you recording into a computer? The DI box just brings your guitar to LINE LEVEL for imput into mixer or soundcard. I would try going Guitar-DI Box-Mixer or Soundcard first. Then experiment from there. 1 more...

Recorded Saturday 1/11/03. Me (electric guitar), Joe (bass) and a good friend Rick on the acoustic. Recorded on the MiniDisc again in Joe's basement. Just a little get together, having a few beers and jammin'. http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=1338&alid=-1 Tossed Salad Jam...
