    Dumb CakeWalk question...

You clone the track. To do that, right click on the track number and select clone track. It will copy it exactly. Then you change the midi channel and the patch. I'm assuming that by default session drummer is channel 10. I just tried it and it works. I got a really strange groove going on ...

Whoops, I didnt read this part. Piano is fine.:D

    film music

Not for my tastes. Very cool, very mellow. The only thing I would suggest is a slightly busier piano part. It's not prominent enough, it's the solo instrument and right now feels like it's just another backing instrument. Good stuff.

    Ghost stories ...

Excellent. Indeed it sounds like Stones meets Steely Dan. I hope someday I get to play with one of the Stones, maybe Ron Wood?;) The horns could be much louder. This is horn music, and the patch is a little generic right now. Maybe a more soloistic patch might work. Or real horns.:D...

Thanks for commenting Beez, Kev and Heatmiser. To be honest, I didnt put much effort into production, it was more of a test to see how thing would work. Good.:D:eek::cool: That's somewhat what I want. Again, it's entirely out of context because it is the 3rd part of 4, but I want it a bit...

First Post in Clinic in a Long Time

Well done. Very stylish, I like the song. Dig the spanish percussion in the back. I didnt feel that way, I enjoyed it. The instrumental interludes might be a tad too long, but I thought the solos were stylistically appropriate for the music.

Thanks for the comments Greg, Xeries, intomusic, Eric, W Strat. I think I agree. The piece is coming off as "minimalistic", and thats not my intention, I want it to be "virtuosic". I think part of the problem is that I made it too easy to play. I'm writing this with a real-world...

Emerson, Lake & Palmer cover from the Defibrillators

I know this song very well, it's from "In the Hot seat". Very nice, an interesting take on it. It reminds me of Rod Stewart's cover of "Broken Arrow". It takes a bit to get used to the vocal if you are used to Greg Lake's "pretty boy" original.:D Ray is correct, it's Tom Waits material. The...

    More metal madnesss

Excellent. Nice and tight playing, dig the vox and the effects. That mid section is really messed up. I wish I had some drugs around here.:D:cool:

    Groovin' on the ribbon mics

Real nice, real mellow. The tone is very good, suits you well. I'm not enough of a mic guy to judge the mic, but it's working for ya.

Thanks for listening Chili, Sailjunkie and Joey. The recording is trying to imitate a real world concert, where the low stuff is on one side and the high is on another. BTW it's a loud pizzicato bass, not a timpani, although it does sound timpani-ish. If I had my druthers I would stick...

Thanks for listening, Ray and Gecko. This is actually the 3rd mvmt. At least I think it is.:D Yeah, after 216 measures of 3, I thought it would be nice to have one in two. Keep the players on their toes.:D

First post here in a while for me. This is a piece I am writing for string orchestra, its one of 4 movements. The idea here is to have it performed in concert, so there are no "synthy" parts, just emulative stuff. Lots of Violins, Garritan for the lower strings. It's called "Echoes", for...

    Song demo for Conservatoire

    best budget recording violin

I have one of these. Here's the truth: They are all screechy with no real low tone until you put in about 3000 hours practicing.:D:D Ask any parent who has a kid playing. BTW, the screechy sound is caused by the bow, not the fiddle. Try more rosin and a better rosin...

    Quality strings?

I run it with a gig of ram. I bounce everything to audio so I dont have problems with resources. Great bang for the buck.

Leading Me On - first mix

I agree. This is new territory for you Gerry, its your most rockin sound yet. I like the riffs, and these are the best drums you have ever had. Vocals may be a tad buried or muddy, other than that its sounds great on my system.

    Korg x50 VS. Yamaha mm6

The G is nice. There is a zenlike simplicity to the mm6. It's laid out very well, everything is right in front of you. There are no modes, you just play. It would be a poor choice as your sole keyboard, but in a rig it's a great way to add Yamaha sounds for cheap. Besides, its FUN.:cool...

    A New Song

http://www.masonjarre.com/clicktolisten.html I'm a classical musician for a living. In opera, there is something called "Recitative". This is essentially what you are doing here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recitative Recitative /rɛsɪtə'ti:v/ (also known by its Italian name "recitativo"...

Good Reverb for Classical Voice Track?

A concert hall??:D I gotta get me a simple mobile rig. I work in some of the best concert halls in the world, and record in my crowded living room.:( The difference is HOW you approach it. In a hall, you just play/sing differently. You belt it out, enjoy the luxury and take more...
