    Thinking of starting a business.

Thanks folks: That's all good advice. I was going to charge by the song but as all of you have noted, it's risky and my wife said "No". So that's that. Here's what I posted in the two local music shops. Recording Studio I have a Recording facility in my home, which is...

    Thinking of starting a business.

So I'm looking at opening my space up to small projects. Singer/songwriter, soloists. Basically, the kind of stuff that I'm doing. I'm doing one project for free right now (just to see if I can) and so far, everything seems to be going well. I'm thinking $35/hr but much of the work is being...

    I'll be danged!

I'm using an AKG 451EB on 5 string, right now. Sounds great. A real "Front Porch" sound. Got my first studio customer. (FREE!) I may start bringing in solo performers if this goes well but until then I've lined up a couple of freebies.

do you think the preamps on the presonus inspire are good enough for...

The Inspire has built in preamps which you operate via the virtual console as opposed to the hardware. There is no reason, other than your personal preference, for the Inspire not to work well enough. I'd upgrade my mics as you suggested and if I didn't like the sound, upgrade my interface...

your first condenser, how did it feel?

AKG Perception 100. Absolutely loved it. Recorded an album with that and a pair of Behringer C2s. Finally let it go last Christmas but am pretty well sold on the brand. I'm now using the AKG Solid Tube for Vocals and the AKG C2000B (Which I bought here) for guitar.

Which of these vocal mic clips?

    1) F, E, C, A, B, D. 2) X2, D2, B2, A2, C2. I'd have been happier not knowing the brands but there's my tuppence worth. The second set had quite a variation in performances and in the first set there seems to be a little tickle in the back of the throat which is a little difficult to ignore...
