    Zoom R16

I'm devoting the next three hours to learning how to record on the Zoom R16, standalone mode. I'll try and come up with a track for you by day's end. I'll also be using the AKG Solid Tube and AKG C451 EB if any-one's interested.

    Thinking of starting a business.

Well things have been going along quite nicely. I'm doing this one for free because it's my first and the guy says he's broke. He did a fairly sloppy job on all of his first takes. That's back when I was asking how to handle a guy who just can't sing. Well I cut him a rough CD and suggested that...

    Apex 205

I've used them on my own albums and love them for vocals and violin but they really can get in the way of getting the job done. There is also the noise floor to contend with. So as long as it's for your own stuff then it's well worth the time spent but you may want to look at a Royer, AE or Blue...

    WTB Blue Bluebird

Just ask. The documentation will be in the box if it's new. Who are you buying from?

    Microphone Help!!

Blue doesn't make bad mics. They just don't. Nor does Yamaha make bad gear. They put the exact same quality into everything they make. Any eejit though, can write a bad review. Just my opinion, of course.

    WTB Blue Bluebird

I bought a couple from the States on E-Bay at $232 apiece. I had to pay combined shipping so it worked out at around $250 apiece in Canada. I then sold one to someone up here. That way we both got a good deal and I got the coveted Bluebird. MS made a good suggestion but you are correct. Hold...

    Going Semi-Professional. Yay me!!

Hey! Bastion Jazz. My father-in-law's band just retired about a year ago. He's 84. That's the stuff they played. Their last gig went every Sunday for 13 years. Great stuff.

    seriously?

I just went through the old stuff with the choirmaster and flung out 1/2 a dozen old mics. Not one EV among them. The new mics? 4 Rode NT1As. Talk about spoiled..

They're pretty hard to find used. How much are you willing to spend. Just to give folks a rough idea.

Are those mic stand 'vocal booths' any good?

I actually found that it increased the room noise by picking up sound from the wall behind me. Mic placement and some dampening such as rugs, mattresses, curtains, pillows, heaped laundry etc. can be equally effective.

Are those mic stand 'vocal booths' any good?

For false declaration on the customs form. They thought they were being clever but Canada Customs didn't. Held on to my new amp for a month and demanded all sorts of paperwork. Unique Squared then phoned me at 9:30 am to apologize. Problem is, that was 5:30 am Pacific Time. Great deals but not...

Blue Mics! ...Voice Your Opinion Please

Always nice to hear alternative opinions, dkelley. However, I'll offer you a Sound on Sound review which I had read some time ago. I always look for their reviews before buying a mic. BLUE Bluebird I'm not suggesting that you are wrong. Only that there are other points of view and I did enjoy...
