    Best way to master?

Yes, I'm happy to learn and experiment. I've been making music for years, just for fun, but never really got into mastering. I was simply asking what kinds of software (or hardware) are out there, and if you guys had any good thoughts on what works and what doesn't.

    Balanced input / signal

just thought I'd give a bit of feedback after running the TRS output of the POD 2.0 into the Tascam DP02 via XLR. Basically... WOW! What a Difference! So much louder, clearer signal. Next to zero noise. Had to solder up my own cable from 2 cables I already owned (no music gear retailers...

    Best way to master?

Cheers, I was kinda hoping for suggestions as to what software / hardware to be looking into so I can learn to master my own stuff. I've got a pretty simple but decent set up (I'm PC-based with Mackie's for mxing / mastering). Is there any decent budget software out there?

    Balanced input / signal

Hi, noob question here: if the only balanced input on my multitrack (Tascam DP02) is an XLR connection (i.e. doesn't have a 1/4" TRS balanced input), am I okay to connect the balanced signal from my POD (2.0) to the Tascam XLR? (I'm just trying to keep the signal balanced, but the Tascam...

    Best way to master?

I want to master about 11 songs so they all 'work together' as an album. It's basically, just to give out to freinds / fans at gigs etc.

    Best way to master?

Hi chaps, I've a project (album) coming to the final stages now and I'm thinking of doing some DIY mastering. Avoiding the debate on whether or not to 'go pro' or DIY, can I have your thoughts on what's best for mastering please? Hardware or software? if you coudl include make / model / price...

Can I get a balanced guitar signal?

In light of an interferece issue I've been having recently, I wondered if anyone knew if it was possibel to have a balanced guitar signal (i.e. like an XLR > XLR balanced mic)? I run a Fender road-worn strat into a Line 6 POD 2.0 into my recording device (Tascam DP02). Any idea on how / if...

Noise / hum in my recordings

Checked the Main outlets last night - no problems there. My tascasm should be returned today so i should get chance over the weekend to do a few tests on what causes the buzzing. I think I'll start by arming the record track (which is when the hum / buzz is noticable) and then unplugging the...

M-Audio Fast Track USB recording delay / out of synch

thanks again, Jim. Thing is, I need to hear the other tracks to play along to, but I guess if I'm just doing a few bare acoustic tracks that could work. If the Fast Track USB has this kind of latency and it can't be gotten around, how do M-audio sell any?! Is there really no work-around? If...

Noise / hum in my recordings

thanks. I did check a few of those things, but I will certainly consider all of them next time. I think the fridge is on the same ring, so maybe that's an issue. I've just been to Maplins to buy a mains tester plug (£5.99) which I'll use to see if there's any issues with the outlets. Then...

M-Audio Fast Track USB recording delay / out of synch

Hi, I have been trying to use the M-Audio fast track USB to record guitar on my PC. After downloading the latest drivers from M-Audio's website (for Vista 32 bit SP1) I tried doing a few recordings. The problem: I am hearing the audio from the PC fine, and I am hearing my guitar perfectly...

Noise / hum in my recordings

No joke... I did send it back (they've still got it) - they called yesterday to say they have tested it and it's working fine, no problems, can't trace any fault at all. What makes me think it's our electrics is that when I plug a mic in to my other recording set up (Fostex Vf160 and / or PC...

Noise / hum in my recordings

Hi folks, I've just bought a tascam DP02 which I've tried to use to record guitars / vocals etc then transfer onto PC to mix / master. The trouble is, when I arm the 'record' track, there is suddenly a buzz / hum present. I have tried numerous guitars (the worst sounding of them was an...
